About Us

Helping families and individuals enjoy meaningful and satisfying lives through the coordination of excellent behavioral health services.

Philosophy of Care
The basic philosophy of care of the Community Services Network (CSN) is to offer recovery-oriented services that provide people with the support necessary to live meaningful and satisfying lives in the community. The CSN promotes recovery by offering a continuum of integrated services, including evidence-based treatments as well as emerging, innovative services.

Who We Serve
The CSN provides services primarily to individuals suffering from severe and persistent mental illness and individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders. Mental health services are also offered to uninsured individuals with less severe forms of mental illness. Most of the individuals served by the CSN lack financial resources and may face a variety of stressors associated with poverty, including inadequate housing, medical care, social support and employment.

What We Provide
The CSN provides a broad range of comprehensive and integrated behavioral health services, including clinical, residential, social, vocational, case management and crisis/respite programming. The CSN also sponsors outreach and treatment programs for individuals who are homeless, at serious risk for mental illness, or involved in the criminal justice system. In addition, the CSN administers family support, domestic violence prevention and intervention, consumer-run and peer support programs, as well as specialized services for those whose primary language is Spanish.

As part of the Behavioral Health System of Greater New Haven and in collaboration with the Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, the CSN also sponsors private and publicly-funded research programs addressing the causes and effective treatment of behavioral health disorders. It also provides extensive training opportunities for graduate and post-graduate interns in psychology, psychiatry, social work and nursing, as well as inservice staff training.

Geographical Area Served
The CSN serves individuals residing within the four counties of New Haven, Hamden, Bethany, and Woodbridge (an area designated by DMHAS as "Catchment Area #7").
